Southern Westchester Communities

Southern Westchester County is north of the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. It has many cities that offer an easy commute to, and a peaceful retreat from New York City.

Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Pelham, and Yonkers names of a few of them.

Mount Vernon, “The City of Happy Homes” offers the best of both worlds, suburbia with urban convenience. It is one of Lower Westchester's fastest growing cities. It's rich in diversity, being the third largest city in the county. Manhattan bound commuters enjoy having less than a 30 minute ride to Grand Central station from one of the city's three Metro North train stations. Mount Vernon has many beautiful tree lined streets with a wide variety of house styles & businesses.

The City of Mount Vernon offers affordable housing options and relief from New York City's expensive real estate market. It is home to the historic Memorial Field, Westchester County's only athletic stadium. Mount Vernon Tennis Center, a privately owned company with six tennis courts is right next door. Not far away, you will find Wilson's Woods Park & Wilson Waves pool. Mount Vernon Library has been around over a century. It is open to all and serves the community both educationally & culturally. Two more important & resourceful places in Mount Vernon are the Doles Community Center and The Boys & Girls Club. They serve the youth & seniors recreationally.

Downtown Mount Vernon you will find City Hall, its transit hub,Petrillo Plaza and major shopping area on Gramatan & Fourth Avenue. Many annual events are held there such as the Arts on Third Festival, Summer Breeze Concert Series, and the Memorial Day Parade. Long term plans are in motion to rezone & revitalize Mount Vernon Ave and surrounding area of the Mount Vernon West train station. The proposal calls for thousands of new residential units & square footage of retail space. It’s expected to impact the area very positively. It will attract more development and opportunities which will benefit the city long term.
